An idea and a dream. Eng•lish Menswear began with a simple goal: to make quality garments in Canada. More specifically, I set out to design pieces that I could wear from day into night, garments that worked with our environment rather than against it. I have always loved technical wear and workwear, especially the idea that if a garment is made correctly, it can go on to live several lives. Repaired, worn again, and eventually donated, not thrown away.
From the beginning, durability and intention were at the core of every decision. I wanted each piece to feel considered, functional, and honest. Clothing that earned its place in your wardrobe and improved with time and wear. The design process focused on balance, blending utility with clean lines so the garments could move easily between settings without feeling out of place.
The first collection was intentionally simple. It consisted of a few Oxford shirts made from Japanese cotton, wool overshirts produced using Canadian wool, fleeces made from recycled Canadian fabric, and a classic sweatshirt also constructed from Canadian material. For select pieces, we used Dintex, a waterproof fabric chosen for its ability to provide water resistance without sacrificing quality or comfort.
Every garment was produced locally, with all manufacturing taking place in downtown Vancouver. Keeping production close allowed for hands-on involvement at every stage and reinforced the values behind the brand. Eng•lish Menswear was never about excess. It was about thoughtful design, responsible production, and creating clothing meant to last.
